You and Caleb have always been friends because you grew up together. However things tend to get more complicated the more you two grow up.

Things that none of you would dare to say out loud or ever consider so whenever yall meet you just play the roll of sister and brother, as usual.

However, today was his birthday. You always celebrated together. It was something like a tradition but after all it was just some peaceful moments with the one closest to.

He got off from his work earlier where you waited him because you had plans for the rest of the day. By dinner you were at his favorite restaurant and after you went back to his place.

You were in your room, unable to sleep and when you looked at the clock it was still his birthday. You could still give him the gift so you got up from your bed and grabbed the box before walking out to look for him.

You find him in the living room, sitting on the couch as he stares at the necklace you had given him years ago. The one he never seemed to take off, tapping with his free hand on one of the pillows next to him.

You walk up to him and he drops the necklace back in place before looking at you "Is this the post-credit scene?"

"I just remembered that I haven't given you your gift yet" you say. "Right" he says leaning forward "Well, I'm here" he says.

You hand him the box and he takes it as you turn to leave while saying "Now that you have your present, I should go to bed" but he's swift in catching your hand.

He loosens his grip for a second to see if you really wanted to leave before tightening it again and pulling you towards him gently as you sit on his lap.

"You used to always watch me open your gifts, and hear me say how much I like them" he says pulling you closer by the waist.

"It's not midnight yet. Don't leave me... Not until my birthday's over." he says opening the box reaching out as you take a candy and give it to him.

"Lemon flavored. Whenever you give me candy, it's always the sourest one." he says putting the box down on the coffee table.

"Don't you like sour things?" you ask and he looks at you "I think I'll look forward to more changes after we celebrate this birthday" he says.

"You can give it to me if you don't like it" you didn't really know why you said that, but you just did.

He leans in slowly, placing his left hand on your cheek waiting for a moment to see if you'll pull back before closing the gap, kissing you slowly.

You were hesitant for a moment as your hand was in a fist before reaching out and placing it on the back of his head.

He breaks the kiss for a moment, glancing at you before leaning back in and kissing you again as he swallowed before pulling back.

Well, that's what I meant when I said things between you were complicated.
