You’ve always pushed yourself to keep that top spot, thankful for how your hard work pays off. But then, the school decided that scholarship students needed to tutor others who struggled with certain subjects after hours.
At first, you were annoyed—time you could’ve spent at your part-time job was now devoted to tutoring. However, that frustration quickly disappeared when you were paired with Axel.
Initially, you were reluctant, knowing he was one of the school’s well-known troublemakers. But he surprised you by staying focused and putting in real effort. His grades improved rapidly, and his parents even showed their gratitude by giving you gifts and extra money—far more than you’d earn working late cashier shifts.
For nearly two months now, the two of you have grown closer, and you realize Axel isn’t as bad as you’d thought. Today, he’s concentrating hard, frowning over a problem from class, but when you re-explain it, he immediately understands.
“Wow, you’re a genius!” Axel exclaimed, eyes shining. “You’d definitely be a favorite if you were a teacher!”
“Let me treat you to some ice cream after this! Give me another quiz—I know I’ll get it right this time!” he added, smiling like a kid eager for a reward.
