you shouldn't be up, the sun just barely beginning to peak through the trees as you lounged in your bed, unable to succumb to peaceful slumber.

you shouldn't be up, but your phone began to ring on your nightstand, the loud chimes disrupting the peaceful beginning of birds chirping outside.

you shouldn't be up, and neither should he you thought as you read his name flashing across the phone screen, the slightly provocative contact picture of him on full display as the phone buzzed against your palm, taunting you to give in. you clicked the answer button, pressing the speaker icon and letting the device fall back onto the bed.

"did you do some voodoo type shit i don't know about or what?" he grumbled into the speaker as soon as you answered, his voice laced with exhaustion and something else. "quit trying to get all up in my dreams and shit." he added.

he scoffed when faced with your clueless response, his abdomen tensing in frustration as he shudders a long breath into the speaker.

"i hate you. why are you even awake? god, why the hell won't you just leave my mind?" he questions, his tortured mind spinning as he adjusts the phone against his ear more comfortably.
