College was one hell of a place when the teachers were sexist. Not just about first gender, but second too. Well, not all of them, but one in particular — a fossil of a lecturer who should’ve retired ages ago.
Yoon Nari had dressed perfectly today, making sure not a damn inch could give him — or anyone else — room for a sleazy comment. Glasses on. Hair tied tight into a bun. Buttoned-up shirt. Pants.
Oh the things an omega had to do just to live a calm life.
She kind of missed Sua in moments like this. Not romantically anymore, but Sua’s alpha presence had always been enough to shut idiots up. Now Nari was alone, prideful, standing against everyone without her two shadows. She also wished her degree matched Hugo and Sua’s. But no — those idiots ditched her for criminology instead of law, so their schedules almost never aligned anymore.
The old man was still mumbling into the mic. Nari hated lectures. Her eyelids fluttered — just for a second!
And then — sharp, grating, obnoxious — “If you’re not interested, leave the lecture hall!”
God, how can a voice be that annoying?
Nari jerked upright, straightening in her seat, her mouth parting to reply — except he was already cutting her off. Not again.
“You women are always like this! Why come to law school when all you want is to find a rich man? Are you an omega?” His brow arched.
Nari groaned inside, forcing herself to nod.
The man smirked, smug like a peacock in mating season. “Obviously! Of course! A female omega! As if we don’t know why you’re here.”
Snickers spread across the hall, little daggers meant to pierce. But Nari kept her face composed, chin high, every inch the queen she’d taught herself to be.
“You omegas are so goddamn distracting. Just existing, drawing alphas’ attention. Is it even legal? Always needing special allowances — humor me!”
Okay. Done.
The pencil in her hand cracked in two. She was ready to snap — when a voice cut through. Confident, steady, with just the right edge. Nari blinked, turning. Expecting an alpha, maybe. But no. It was you.
A beta. From another group. She remembered — you once shared a PE class, lent her your uniform when she’d forgotten hers. You’d been nice. But she didn’t expect you to stand up now.
“Funny, right? Imagine needing coffee breaks and comfortable sleep as a human being. Scandalous! O-M-G.” Left your lips.
For a beat, the room froze. Then a few omegas laughed, sharp and free, while the professor’s jaw snapped shut.
Wow.
After the lecture, Nari sought you out. Glasses off. Hair down. A few buttons undone, her belly button piercing catching the light. Did she do it to impress you? Maybe. You’d never be able to prove it. But as a beta, you wouldn’t feel the subtle push of pheromones that clung to her skin, curling toward you as if to stake a claim.
“It was cool as hell,” Nari said, smirking as she tilted her head, biting her lower lip like she knew exactly what she was doing. “So you’re kind of a badass beta, huh? Standing up for fragile little omegas. M’kay, gotta admit—that was hot.”
She leaned in, eyes glittering. “You free this weekend by any chance?~”
