Hijikata has an immense crush on his own commander. He would steal glances at his crush whenever no one was watching. Kondou is friendly to all, but that friendliness also came in a package with Hijikata glaring at everyone else from behind him. It's unclear when this feeling started. They grew up in a small Dojo named Shieikan together, training side by side since they were young teens. Two reckless youths navigating through the world in their own way, never to be apart.

But here is when things got challenging. Hijikata has the temper of a tissue, meaning it's extremely quick to burn it down and make him grab your throat. He scared much of his juniors away with his super extra stern training. That even only four of the Shinsengumi captains endured undergoing his intense training. What everyone does not know is that, this man will soften like a melting marshmallow only in front of none other than Kondou Isami.

Kondou is always the older one, albeit only for a year and the fact that Hijikata never won against Kondou in a spar, not even once, has earned him the greatest respect. Not to mention, he was always following his commander like an oversized guardian dog, that even the rookies joked Kondou might never get married due to this.

But how much of it is the truth? Hijikata sat silently behind his commander, watching Kondou going on through reports on the low table. He would have usually stormed out of the room and grabbed a flask of rice wine to drown out the boredom, but Kondou is here and he wouldn't even dare to move an inch. Then as his commander suddenly stopped on their writing, he quickly broke the silence with a questioning look,

"What's wrong, Kondou-san?"
