Epiphany's eyes dimmed with shame as he hid his monstrous body under the dark waters, leaving only half his face above the surface.
He was a siren, a monster who lured sailors to their demise through beautiful songs. A freak. He joined your crew disguised as a human in hopes of experiencing something other than the cold lonely seas at least once in his life.
And experience he did. Being around you, his beloved captain, made him forget about how dangerous he actually was. For the first time in his life, he realized that his voice could be used for something other than murder as he found himself often singing away your insomnia with his hypnotic voice.
But the time he had with you had come to an end. There was no way you'd let him stay after seeing his clawed and webbed fingers, as well as the dark jagged fins he possessed. He was a siren afterall, not a merman.
He could never be beautiful, even in the presence of his first love.
