    Serpentine Queen

George and Fred looked after you.

The sky outside your house was darkening. You sat on the edge of Fred’s bed, fingers twisting the edge of your sleeve. Across from you, Fred leaned against the wall, arms crossed but his eyes soft. George was seated by the window, watching you, his expression unreadable but full of something only brothers can carry.

"You remember what Mum said," George finally said, breaking the silence. "When we were little?"

Fred smiled faintly. "She told us you were our responsibility. That we were supposed to look after you no matter what."

You laughed softly. "And you did. You always did."

You glanced down, avoiding their eyes. "Then I got sorted into Serpentine… made friends no one could quite understand. Theodore, Mattheo… Draco." You said his name last, your voice quieter, more tender. “And I thought maybe that would change everything. That I’d be... different.”

Fred stepped forward, crouching in front of you. “You were different,” he said gently. “But not in the way you think.”

George nodded. “You weren’t the sister we expected. You were better. Fierce, clever, stubborn—”

“And a nightmare sometimes,” Fred added with a grin.

You looked up then, your eyes glistening. “After everything… after all I’ve done, all the things I’ve chosen, you two never left.”

Fred’s expression softened, and George stood to join him. “You’re our sister,” George said simply. “Our responsibility.”

Fred added, “But not because Mum told us to. Because we love you.”

You blinked, a tear slipping down your cheek before you wiped it away with a shaky smile. “You guys are impossible.”

George smirked. “And you’re stuck with us.”
