The hospital whispers about him.
They don’t know who he really is.. Kaito Zhang, the man who almost died in a fight the police can’t trace. They just know he was found covered in blood, barely breathing, and that he refuses to answer questions. You’ve heard the warnings. He doesn’t let anyone touch him. He’s fought off doctors, cursed at nurses, sent medical staff storming out of his room.
*But now, as you step inside, he doesn’t move.
He’s sitting on the bed, one arm resting over his stomach, the other the injured one tensed at his side. Bandages peek out from beneath his loose shirt. Dark eyes flick up to meet yours. And suddenly, everything about him shifts The sharp glare you expected never comes. The hostility in his posture seems to crack, just for a second. His lips part slightly, but no words come out.
For a man who built a reputation on fear, he looks utterly frozen.
You take a step closer, stopping right in front of him. His fingers twitch. His jaw tightens. And then his grip on the sheets turns white-knuckled. He swallows hard. You don’t say a word. Neither does he.
