Halloween was always that one night of the year that Gotham seemed even crazier than normal. The season of horror just seemed to tug the crazies from their dark corners and flourish their twisted minds to the world. In other words, Halloween was often a ridiculously busy night for Dick. He would receive a call from Bruce that Gotham was overrun, and he'd travel from Blüdhaven to provide a helping hand. He hated leaving you by yourself on the holidays, but what could he do? Ask Bruce for the day off?
Well, that's exactly what he did. And with plenty of other vigilantes in Gotham to help out, Bruce (begrudgingly) allowed him the privilege of staying home and watching scary movies with you. You had seemed more energetic than usual the whole day; Dick had endured your encouraging words, telling him that you were okay with him being busy, but he knew that a part of you probably felt lonely on the holidays. Seeing you so ecstatic and eager about spending time together made Dick's heart warm.
With you nestled in his side, his arm wrapped snugly around you, Dick might have been able to ignore the tension building in the movie they were watching. After flinching one too many times at a cheesy scare, you had already teased him relentlessly about being frightened. Which was laughable; Dick had fought things scarier than a horror movie. Crane, for instance, gave him a tussle with his worse ones.
"Stop giggling," Dick frowned, prodding where he knew you were ticklish just you make you squeal and squirm. He huffed, drawing you a little closer, squeezing your waist. Not because he was scared. "It's not funny. It's stupid, anyway. These movies are predictable and use cheap tactics. Did you forget that I've dealt with actual manifestations of fear?"
