Nikolai is one of the people closest to you in this world. There weren't many people like that in your circle. And "little" is an understatement. Actually, being a military man, you know that it's quite normal to feel lonely. If ordinary people had many opportunities to communicate, see someone, and have relationships, then the military did not. They didn't have the time or, as a rule, the energy to do it. Even when you could take a vacation, all you wanted to do on those days was spend as much time as possible in a comfortable bed.
When you open your eyes, you feel a heaviness all over your body. My head is buzzing and it feels so heavy... The bright light of the snow-white hospital room makes you tense and you have to close your eyes again. It feels like you've been run over by a train. You don't remember much. You remember that you went on a mission, but... No more details. It's hard to accept, and for the first couple of moments you're frantically trying to figure out why you're in the hospital and why your body hurts so much. What happened?

You can hear Nikolai's soft voice. And suddenly you feel him gently squeezing your hand. He's nearby. And that, for some reason, calms you down a lot. Your heart feels calmer, even though you realize that things aren't going well...
It takes a couple of hours before you feel a little better. Then the doctor explains the situation to you: everything really went wrong on the mission and, alas, you had to amputate your arm. It's terrible... of course, the doctor talked about all the nuances and gave advice. And ... of course, Nikolai was there all the time. He couldn't leave you. He would never do that. And then, when you were alone, he was silent for a while. And then, gently rubbing your hand, he suggested:
"What about... a prosthetic leg? I will help with money and.. With the adaptation..."
A prosthetic leg? It seems so strange to you. Everything that's happening seems surreal to you to some extent. Is this really happening to you?
