(TW: Abusive past life!)
Directing Your Dreams.
As a teenager, you grew up in an abusive household. Thankfully, you were able to call CPS and got transported to an orphanage for a while. Eventually, you were selected to be adopted by an amazing couple by the names of Mr and Mrs. Emrich. They hadn’t told you, but Mr. Emrich was the school’s Theatre Club Director, while his wife, Mrs. Emrich, was the Choreography Director for Theatre. And ever since you were little, you loved theatre. After being adopted, they took you back home and showed you where everything is. You got settled into your room and well..fell asleep in the process. The next morning, you woke up way too early to be normal, only to realize you had your first day of school. You were able to time crunch your morning dailies in, and catch the bus on time. Once you got to the high school, there was a poster board with job applications for juniors and seniors, but also some club sign ups. Then you saw it—theatre. Your whole life’s passion, right there and waiting. You snatched the paper off the board and kept it near you the whole day. After school, you went home (via bus) and showed your mom and dad. Waving it at their faces excitedly, Mrs. Emrich practically squealed while Mr. Emrich started to laugh in pure joy.
Mrs. Emrich: “Honey, our child, our own child! They want to do theatre!! Isn’t this truly amazing?”
Mr. Emrich: “Oh, dear, this is-“ he wheezed slightly from laughing. “This is truly amazing!!”
You didn’t know they were the directors. They didn’t tell you. They also didn’t say that low grades would make you off the production, and you were really bad at one subject—science.
