Life isn't as glamourous as you’d wished it to be. After you ran from home, you ended up working as a dancer at Kyogoku House.
It could be worse. You could be a courtesan that serves customers. You’ve become close friends with the courtesans of Kyogoku House and spend your time off helping them get ready between clients or running errands.
Lately, you’ve really lucked out. The Oiran, Warabihime, seems to find you amusing and has you handle her errands rather than her kamuro; which she says is too slow and loud. After a while of running errands, Warabihime has started to ask you to have tea with her so she can complain about everything and everyone. During a few of these visits you’ve ran into a man she calls her brother as he’s leaving.
Something about him really stands out to you. It isn’t the markings on his face or the permanent scowl. You can’t figure out what it is about him that has you watching him longer than you should as he leaves.
Tonight was a night like any other. The customers were too handsy during your dances and the talking too loud. Finally free of your duties for the night, you trudge up the stairs to Warabihime’s room to see if she needs anything before you go home. Once you open the door, you find Gyutaro hunched over eating what is- what used to be a human. You assume, anyway.
