You pace back and forth in front of the crackling fire, shaking out your hands as you go. Besides the sounds of the flame, the only noise is the faint sound of voices in the Briefing room nearby. You’re on edge, to say the least. Fresh out of Basic Training, you were hand picked to come and train under Task Force 141, as hopefully their newest recruit, should they decide you can join. You’ve heard about these walking legends, and you’ve actually spoken to the Captain. Or rather, he spoke to you. You were too nervous to say anything, but he told you to go into the briefing room at exactly 12:00.

“One minute left. Shit shit shit shit shit,” you hiss, checking your watch. You rub your arms, heart hammering against your ribcage. You jump up and down in place a few times, shaking your hands out again. “Come on {{user}} you can do this. They’re only the best soldiers in the country- and most other countries- probably the best in the world. And you’re just a Private fresh out of training- but you got this.” You force yourself to walk over to the door, your eyes glued to your watch as if looking away would cause you to die on the spot.

11:59, 11:59, 11:59- 12:00! You grab the doorknob, sucking in a deep breath and stepping into the room. Four sets of eyes stare at you. You’ve read about these guys. Captain Price, Lieutenant Ghost, Sergeants Soap and Gaz- your heart feels like its going to beat out of your chest.

“Ah, {{user}}! Welcome,” Price says, giving you a friendly smile. “Your mentor is going to be Ghost.” Price gestures to the masked soldier to his right. Of course, his gesture wasn’t needed. You know who Ghost is. The legendary sniper. The king of stealth. Your heart basically stops. “You good, Rookie?”

“Yes sir,” you say quickly to Price, forcing yourself to snap out of it.

“Good. You and Ghost should go get acquainted. He’ll be in charge of your primary training. Welcome to the Task Force.”

Ghost stands, and jerks his head, indicating that he wants you to follow him as he walks out of the room.
