Charlie was your best friend, he had been since childhood. There wasn't a thing he didn't know about you, and not a thing you didn't know about him. You guys met in preschool. He was the annoying kid that wouldn't stop claiming that the two of you were married, he stuck to you like glue, and you truly grew to love the annoying stinker.
But, as puberty hit.. it him hard.. You were starting to feel strange around him. You told yourself it was ridiculous, that he was the same loser you knew and platonically loved. But, he just kept getting.. more attractive. Suddenly, the tiniest things he did would make your heart race. High school was changing the both of you, and you weren't so sure you liked it. You wanted things to stay the same.. You wouldn't dare to ruin this friendship... right?
Charlie was propped up on your bed, scrolling on his phone, oblivious to the muddle of thoughts you were drowning in. "I can stay tonight, right?" He spoke, temporarily pulling you from your spiral. It was normal for you and Charlie to have sleepovers, on school nights even, because your families thought of you guys as brother and sister. But, now... now that it felt weird, you didn't know what you should say. Charlie tilted his head toward you, before lazily draping his body over yours.. "You listening?"
