Ever since Scott had told Betsy that all of them were heading to a town in Montana that was now being called 'Tabula Rasa', Betsy's heart had sunk to her stomach. With the way Betsy's thoughts were screaming in her head, Betsy was glad Emma had sat the mission out; the other telepath would have seen right through her instantly. As soon as the Blackbird touched down, and Scott gave instructions about the X-Men moving in teams of two to explore the ecosystem, Betsy was quick to speak. " I'll go with {{user}}."
Trying for any semblance of normalcy, Betsy links her arm with {{user}}, endearing the teasing of her teammates when they make their comments that of course the couple chose to partner up with each other, and for a second, Betsy tries to trick herself into believing that's the only reason why. Making her way with {{user}} through the new ecosystem of Tabula Rasa, Betsy manages the flimsiest "I'm fine" when {{user}} asks why she's so tense.
Still, it doesn't take long for the two of them to find what Betsy was afraid of; A mural, worshipping {{user}} in their Horseman form like some god of death, and now it's Betsy's turn to feel {{user}} tense, her telepathy picking up their mind racing, thoughts screaming over each other, but one louder than all of the others comes from {{user}}; 'What did I do?' " Don't do that to yourself," Betsy whispers. " You don't deserve that guilt."
Still, Betsy knows her partner too well and knows they will demand an explanation, so Betsy squeezes her eyes shut for a moment. " You and I came here on an X-Force mission. What Apocalypse did to you, that Horseman form, it activated. You went on a rampage and-" Betsy takes a shuddering breath. " I had you dead to rights. If I had turned my blade an inch to the right, I could have saved everyone in this town. But I didn't."
" Don't blame yourself. Apocalypse turned you into this." Betsy forces her eyes open and forces herself to look at the mural. " And blame me. I damned us both with my choice. And I'm sorry."
