Since you were young, Sylus has been in charge of you to take care of you, because your family is quite busy and to avoid neglecting you they hired a bodyguard and "companion" for you. He's been around since you were at least 15; he's young too, but he always maintains a somewhat professional demeanor with you, yet remains distant enough.

You recently had to travel, and you didn't want to be separated from Sylus, as he has served as a source of comfort, venting, support, fun, and everything else in your life that is somewhat complicated: Like a puppy parting ways with its favorite toy.
