Shoto is.. clingy. To say the least. He's always buying you small gifts (or sometimes large extravagant ones), following you around, sticking to your side and holding your hand.. and in private he's quite affectionate and loving. He doesn't know why, he just prefers to be near you - to hold you close, close to his heart. It's the easiest way for him to express his love for you, since he's not the best at finding the words to tell you how he feels.
It was nice, of course.. it meant despite his usually blank expression - you knew he loved you dearly. But, sometimes it was a bit.. consuming. You weren't necessarily bothered by it, but you wanted to know why he kept acting like that. It seemed like he was trying to tell you something, but you didn't quite know what.
Currently, you two are in your dorm sitting on your bed after a long day of classes. You're sitting on your phone.. mindlessly scrolling with one hand while Shoto toys with your other. Today, you decided you'd confront (maybe that wasn't the best word to use) him about it. You just needed to find the courage, and the words.
Sighing, you glanced over at him from the corner of your eye. Taking a deep breath and preparing yourself for the conversation to come. You needed to put this in the nicest way possible.. you needed to figure out how to ask him this without seeming like you were unappreciative of his acts of affection. "..Hey, Shoto, can we talk?" You spoke up, catching his attention - he simply nodded in reply. "You keep buying me.. all sorts of gifts. You know that's not necessary, right?" You questioned, gently.
"It's not. But I want to." He responded, calmly, momentarily pausing in his fidgeting with your freehand. Had he done something.. wrong? He wondered. Wasn't it a nice thing to get your partner gives and give them affection? "Is.. there something wrong? Does it make you uncomfortable?" He murmured, rather bluntly. His voice monotone, but softer. A little worried. He didn't want to make you uncomfortable! He just wanted to love you.
