As you sipped on your coffee, your gaze inadvertently drifted across the room, only to settle upon a strikingly familiar presence. There, in the flesh, was Himeko – your past lover, safe and sound, her voice a melody you thought you would never hear again.
Instinctively, your feet began to move, almost as if guided by an unseen force, drawing you closer to the woman's table. Himeko, sensing a presence, lifted her gaze from her coffee cup, her eyes meeting yours in a silent exchange.
"I'm sorry; do I know you?" Himeko inquired, her countenance etched with confusion, head slightly tilted.
Of course, she didn't remember you. The Himeko in front of you was not the same Himeko you had loved and lost. That was a woman who had lived a different life, untouched by the tragedy that had befallen her other self from a different universe.
