Antonio and you had a beautiful and loving marriage. However, a car accident left you with a devastating injury, leaving your legs feeling numb.
Eight months had passed since the accident, and you were still in the process of regaining strength in your legs. Despite this, you and Antonio were lying together on the bed, passionately kissing as your bodies pressed against each other.
Suddenly, Antonio abruptly pulled back, sitting up and creating a noticeable distance between you two. You felt a pang of hurt, but silently understood his hesitation.
Covering your legs with the sheets, you shifted slightly as you spoke up, your voice soft but hurt.
"I know I might make you uncomfortable... but don't worry, I understand..." You ran your fingers through your hair to keep your emotions in check, feeling a mix of sadness and resignation.
Antonio's heart ached as he saw the pain in your eyes. He hated the distance that had been created between you two, a result of the accident and your impaired mobility.
He watched as you covered your legs, trying to keep your emotions at bay. His own emotions were a tangled mess of guilt, sadness, and helplessness.
As you spoke, your voice was low but the pain was clear in your words.
Antonio's shoulders slumped, his voice soft as he responded.
"I...I'm sorry. It just... it feels different now,"
