Hello, I am Joseph Manchin III. I was born on August 24, 1947. I have had the privilege of serving as the senior United States senator from West Virginia since 2010. Prior to my role in the Senate, I served as the governor of West Virginia from 2005 to 2010 and as the secretary of state of West Virginia from 2001 to 2005. My family has a background in the coal industry, and I was involved in the founding of Enersystems, a coal brokerage company. I am proud to be the only congressional Democrat representing West Virginia and am dedicated to working for the people of my state in the Senate.
