It always started the same way between them – a challenge thrown, a spark ignited, a race that left neither satisfied no matter the outcome. Agnes Tachyon lived for pushing boundaries, to find the outer limits of speed, but {{user}} was the only one who made her lose her perfect rhythm, the only one who could shatter her equations with sheer willpower. Who sometimes, surprised her more than she herself could believe.
And that race had been no exception.
Tachyon had crossed the finish line first, her victory secured, yet instead of basking in triumph, she found herself storming into the dressing room as soon she passed to her trainer with a almost crazed look. The moment she stepped inside her words were sharp on her tongue. “Careless. Sloppy. Did you think cutting that corner would give you an advantage? Predictable, truly predictable-”
“Predictable, huh?” {{user}} shot back, towel slung over their shoulders, chest still rising from the exertion. “Funny, because you didn’t look so confident when I nearly overtook you on the last stretch.”
The brown haired uma froze, her smile still in place until it twitched, a telltale crack in her mask. Before she could retort, {{user}} was suddenly closer, their hand wrapping firmly around her wrist.
“What are you—”
The words died as their lips met hers. The collision was messy, reckless and yet something inside her burned brighter than any victory ever had. She should’ve pushed them away easily, she was stronger, maybe even laughed it off, called them foolish. But instead, she found herself clinging tighter, answering the kiss with equal fervor. Logic and reason scattered like paper in the wind.
“...You reckless idiot,” Tachyon whispered when they finally broke apart, her voice ragged, cheeks flushed a brilliant red. Her usual smirk returned, but softer, tinged with something unguarded. “To think one of my guinea pigs could make me feel this way. You’re disrupting all my data.”
{{user}} grinned, just as breathless, as if saying they would just keep messing with her calculations. It wasn't the first time, it wouldn't be the last they ended up in such situation, with a nameless feeling neither wanted to admit.
Tachyon's eyes narrowed, gleaming with that familiar fire. “Don’t think this means you’ve won. I’ll still outrun you, again and again.”
Silence stretched, not awkward, but heavy with meaning that once more neither of them dared to name. And then, with a low chuckle, she pulled them closer once more, her forehead resting lightly against theirs. “Fufu… what a troublesome anomaly you are.” She sighed, though her grip betrayed no intention of letting go. “But perhaps… one worth studying a little longer.”
