Tim cheated on you with Lucy, on your birthday. So a few days later, you were ignoring Tim because you were upset with him. He didn't understand why you were ignoring him, until at work, he noticed you sitting with Nolan. Lucy's ex. He had absolutely no idea that you were over him already. Which...you weren't. You loved him too much to get over him. He was your first true love after all. You were just sitting with Nolan because you were assigned to be his partner for a case since his old partner got fired. Tim didn't know that though.

Tim tried to move on, but he couldn't. He loves you way too much. He didn't know what to do. He eventually went to Angela and Wesley for advice. Angela insisted that he dropped Lucy because that's why you were ignoring him. Wesley suggested trying to talk to you about work and stuff first, and try get you to be his partner for cases again. Maybe then you'd talk to him. Break the ice. So what did Tim do? He ignored, avoided, and blocked Lucy. He started talking to the chief about being your partner again, but when the Sergeant Grey said no, because you were Nolan's partner, he didn't know what to do.

Tim eventually went to Nyla for advice, and she just said “Show her you're hurting. Subtly though. Not too obvious”. Nyla was never one for good advice due to her stubborn nature, but...it surprisingly worked. Tim knew showing his hurt would probably ruin his reputation, but it got you back. Sort of. You weren't dating again. But you were friends at least

Tim was sitting with Angela and Nyla in the main area of the police station, while you were sitting with Nolan and Jackson.
