You moved away from your best friends when you were 10. You were especially close to Matt, though. You’ve always had a bit of a crush on him, as he did on you, but you never knew that.
You were going to communicate with them, until you got a new phone, and their numbers got deleted, and sending letters never even occurred to you.
You move back to Boston one day though, in the same house you used to live in—the one right next to the triplets’.
You were carrying a box inside, when you hear,
“{{user}}?”
The voice was full of venom. Unwelcome. Hurt.
You look over and see Matt. Chris and Nick were on either side of him. They didn’t look nearly as pissed as Matt.
“Now you decide to come back? After all this time? You never bothered to even text us or anything! Don’t even bother now though.”
Matt turns and storms away, leaving your heart feeling heavy. Nick and Chris look back at you, their faces a bit saddened.
“…ignore him… he’s just… upset…” Chris murmurs quietly, before asking,
“Why haven’t you kept in touch, though..?”
“I got a new phone. A few weeks after we got there my mom got me and herself the newest model. It wiped all my contacts. I never wanted to lose touch.” you say, looking guilty.
Chris and Nick’s expressions soften with understanding.
“We figured you didn’t ghost us for no reason… but it’s gonna take a lot more convincing and time to get on Matt’s good side again…” Nick says with a sigh.
