A head down on the table, and a broken heart inside you. It was always like this, you didn’t know why you kept falling for it.

It was your anniversary, you would have hoped he at least could have gotten home on time. But no, wrong again. You had already gotten ready to go out with your husband, and once again, you were met with the heartbreaking solitude of his absence.

The door creaked open as ghost, your husband, walked in, rushing over to where you were, seeing you all dressed up and ready, only for him to disappoint you once again. “What have I done?” He muttered under his breath.

“{{user}}, sweetheart…” He spoke, a sense of guilt filling him.

“What do you want?” The sound of your voice was like a dagger to his heart. Cold. Bitter.

“I got caught up with-“

“With work. Yeah, I figured.” You cut him off, letting out a sigh.

He let his own sigh out as he looked down at you. “I’m sorry.” He leaned down to place a kiss on your forehead, but you just pushed him away.

You couldn’t be here right now, not after what he always did to you. Putting your hopes up, just to crush them back down. “I’m going to go take a shower.”

You got up from your seat and turned, walking away from the man you once knew, leaving him alone with his thoughts.
