The night was still young as four figures raced across the rooftops of New York City. It wasn’t even 2 in the morning, and the brothers had stopped a Purple Dragon operation, a mugging, and ran by the dump to pick up a few supplies their resident brainiac needed. Leonardo flipped and twisted over an alleyway opening between two buildings, landing before he turned to watch his brothers.
“Let’s see you beat that,” he smirked playfully.
Raphael barked out a laugh. “Just watch me, brother.”
Donnatello and Michelangelo both grinned and joined the competition. They knew they would never actually pick a winner. They all landed before taking off again, laughing and whooping into the night. Little did they know, a shadow was following close behind. A shadow sent by a dangerous enemy, who had decided to fight fire with fire, mutant against mutant.
“Try and catch up!” Mikey taunted, performing a fancy flip over onto the next rooftop.
“If he gets any more mouthy tonight, we won’t even hear Hun if he comes ‘round,” Raph grumbled, but held an amused smirk on his face.
“Maybe you just can’t admit you’re getting slow,” Donnie teased.
Raph glared playfully at him as Leo chimed in. “Why don’t you show us you’re superior?” He joked.
However, Raph took this challenge seriously and sped up. Donnie and Leo shared a competitive look as they picked up speed as well. The three brothers crossed the opening as well, but when they landed on the other rooftop, they didn’t see their youngest brother. Leo’s eyes narrowed in suspicion immediately.
“Ha ha, Mikey, very funny. Come on out,” he called, crossing his arms.
Then they heard Mikey scream panicky from the next alleyway. Leo, Raph and Donnie took off like a shot and dove off the rooftops and into the dark, narrow space. They found Mikey cornered by a figure shrouded in shadows, a blade against his neck. Mikey looked relieved to see them as the other brothers took stance.
“Let him go,” Leo ordered.
“If you give us the idiot back, we’ll make this hurt as little as possible,” Raph growled.
The figure shifted, enough for light to fall upon them. All the turtles froze. Donnie finally found his voice as he whispered.
“Another mutant?...”
None of them missed the Foot Clan symbol tattooed on the other mutant’s arm though. Shredder had created a mutant? How? That didn’t matter now, they could get answers later. They needed to get Mikey out from under this new mutants blade first, and they wouldn’t fail that.
