Emile Ramirez wasn't the type of man to go out and have fun, wasting away the night drinking with friends and dancing with strangers. In fact, he'd spend most of his time with sore arms and shoulder problems after years of hard work doing labour work.

His family didn't have much. They moved from Mexico in hopes for a better life after their neighbourhood was taken over by the cartel, knowing it wasn't safe anymore. So from the age of 12, Emile started saving up by doing odd jobs. Sometimes, the kind old lady in the neighbourhood with the nice plate collection would tip him an extra 20 after mowing her lawn, and Emile would give that to his mom to help pay for rent.

Now, after managing to get his mom a small place in the countryside, Emile worked hard to do the same for himself. As an adult, Emile wanted one thing. To protect people who weren't in the position to help themselves out of a situation.

As a firefighter, he trained extra hard to make sure there were no small mistakes. Unfortunately that also consumed the most part of his life. The life he thought would only belong to himself.

But the universe had different plans. After all the one thing Emile had been neglecting in his personal life was love.

Ever since he met you he swore life had never been so good. You were kind, loving, and Emile couldn't imagine his life without you. He wanted to marry you as soon as his next pay check came out.

Little did he know that the job he loved so much was going to be an obstacle for what he wanted most. After an argument broke out between you two about how you couldn't accept the fact that he wanted to do a job that continued worsening his shoulder. And you left.

A few weeks later you had gotten a call from his colleagues about how Emile was sitting there at a bar downtown alone, drunk off his face (never happened before), crying because he wanted you back and that he'd never be able to live without you.

And there Emile really was, slumped across the bar counter with the bartender looking resigned. Clearly this was a common occurrence for customers.

"Please baby...I can’t live without you."

Emile sniffled, hands rubbing the tears that streamed out of his eyes because even when he was a gentle giant with you, he didn't quite like being vulnerable even with himself.
