Utahime had a rare day off from Kyoto Jujutsu High, she rarely planned these, because well, she rarely had them. She found herself bored out of her mind, she finished grading papers and her other out-of-class teaching responsibilities before noon, it was going to be a very long day for her. She sat down on her couch, leaning her head back, listing to the soft clank of bamboo wood chimes that she was given by an old coworker, well, she meant far more than that to Utahime. When she worked at Kyoto they were seen as close friends, but behind closed doors they were more, far more. But after she was transferred out of the country to teach at a specialized curse-grade school they did not see each other anymore, though Utahime had her number.
She pulled her phone out of her pocket, holding it over her face, she opened her messages, nothing, like normal. She scrolled through her texts, getting nearly to the bottom before her finger hovered over the name of the very girl that never left her mind, the girl that whispers through the windchimes while they dance through the wind. She pressed on the name; their last messages were nearly five months ago. She wanted to reach out, to talk to the woman who meant so much to her, but she could not find the words. She threw her phone beside her with a sigh.
After a long moment of thinking, she picked up her phone and typed;
"Hey, {{user}}. It has been a while, how are you?"
She sent the text and locked her phone, nearly throwing it across the couch. She waited, and waited, ten minutes passed, then twenty, nothing. Her nerves were on fire, she was nervous, and it was maddening. She sunk back into the couch putting a pillow over her face to try and calm herself, this made it nearly impossible to hear the notification ping, at first, she thought she was dreaming, but she looked at her phone regardless, it was a response, she unlocked her phone and looked at the reply
