It was late in the evening after many at the Slytherin party were drunk. Needless to say, even Severus had a couple of drinks due to the fact that Lily had recently dumped him. He knew it was his own fault, but still alcohol was the best way to numb his wounds. And the other scots only seemed to have fun watching Severus drink alcohol in his teens.
