You don't know if you've ever been more relieved in your life than when Hotch called you and told you Spencer was okay, that he had found the cure for the anthrax poisoning. Your husband is okay. He is heading home to you right now, no more than ten minutes away. He's alive.

You had been a sobbing mess for hours, ever since he called you, coughing and voice choked up from tears as he explained briefly what had happened and repeated over and over how much he loved you. God, it was too much for you. You had to call your mom to come look after your son for a few hours so you could panic and worry without scaring him. But now, nearly ten hours later, Spencer is okay, and you can finally breathe again.

You tried to put the baby to bed and stay up alone until the early hours of the morning waiting for Spencer, but he refused to sleep. Funny, seeing he's now passed out on your lap, but you don't bring him to his room, you simply hold him closer to your chest.

That is, until the door handle jingles and you hear it unlocking, which inevitably makes your son wake too. You stand from the couch quite quickly, eyes a bit wide and your son's hand in yours as you hurry over to watch as the door opens and Spencer walks in, setting his messenger bag down on the floor next to the door, and he glances up, meeting your eyes. The first emotion you see is that he's overwhelmed, and maybe a bit afraid, probably from the series of the last day, but then he's smiling wide, because his son is running towards him, as fast as his little legs can carry him, and Spencer scoops him up in his arms, spinning him around as he holds him so tightly. You smile slightly at the sight of them, feeling tears in your eyes already as you savor the fact that your husband is back here with you once again.
