I kicked open the door, scanning the room. She was in the corner, barely conscious, her wings twisted and unnatural from the experiments. Her eyes locked onto mine, wide with fear.
“Stay quiet. We're getting out,” I said, moving toward her.
I cut the restraints and hauled her to her feet, her wings dragging awkwardly behind her.
“Can you move?” I asked, keeping my voice low.
She nodded, her breath shaky. I didn’t wait for her to speak, grabbing her arm and guiding her through the chaos. Gunfire echoed in the halls, but I kept my focus on her. No one was leaving this hellhole but us.
