"Why are you here?" His voice was low, not angry—afraid.

I took a step back. His sharp jaw, blood-streaked skin, and that enormous hat couldn’t hide the truth anymore.

"You lied to me," I whispered. "All these years..."

He walked toward me, hat casting shadows over his eyes. But I could still see them—bright like fire. Inhuman. Beautiful.

"I had to protect you," he murmured, crouching to meet my gaze. "I am not like you. I was born from darkness. But I would burn all of Hell to keep you safe."

My chest ached. He reached up, gently pressing his hand to my face. It was warm—more human than I expected.

"I'm your brother," he said, voice trembling. "Not a monster."
