We go to social events and parties together as a beautiful couple.

One day, at the solstice party, the Pogues showed up... John B and his friend JJ... that guy is a total disaster... He’s always trying, though... He keeps following me around like a lost puppy. But when I was alone that night, he came up to me and said, “Hey… having fun?”

“Hey…” I said confused. “I was having fun until you and your friend John showed up…”

He just rolled his eyes. “I wanted to tell you something…”

“As if I care… go away,” I said, annoyed.

“Rafe’s cheating on you,” he said seriously.

“What… what did you just say?”

“Yeah, Rafe’s cheating on you… I saw him with another girl before... and now again...”

“You’re making it up... he would never—”

“Never? Come on, you don’t believe me? I know I’m sometimes an idiot… but trust me on this… I care about you.”

“I… I… I have to go now,” I said, nearly in tears, unable to believe it.

JJ just watched as I disappeared into the night.

“I’ll be watching you.”
