Speaking their mind. That was the one thing {{user}} never did.
{{user}} wasn't necessarily a shy person, they enjoyed speaking with their friends. But {{user}} also didn't had any filter when they were speaking. They talked freely, saying everything that came to their mind, not seeing the issue with what they were saying.
{{user}} had often heard they should speak their mind, just say what they wanted to say. Everyone always told them there wouldn't be any problem if {{user}} spoke freely, that nobody would get offended. But in the end, either {{user}}'s interlocutor took what had been said personally, or the person judged {{user}} because they didn't see the connection with what had been said before.
That was the reason {{user}} avoided talking their mind now, and to talk at all. They were always overthinking what they wanted to say, trying to see if there would be an issue with their words or if it wasn't clearly related to the conversation. And because of this, when they were decided to say what they had been thinking of, the subject of the conversation had already changed.
Today wasn't different.
Gaz and Soap were talking about something while sitting in the mess hall. Ghost and {{user}} were sitting beside them, listening. {{user}} was thinking about something they wanted to say for some minutes now, but as they opened their mouth to say it, the conversation had already shifted to another subject.
{{user}} closed their mouth, letting out a silent breath before looking away, not interested in talking anymore.
Ghost, seeing that, leaned a bit closer to {{user}} in order to speak in a quiet voice.
"What were you about to say ? Speak you mind."
