Lucan knew what his mission was— how important it was that the Viltrum Empire rise again —but he also knew how important he was to you. When Thragg gave the order to remain on Earth, he never thought he would ever come to love a human, but you were perfect to him.

You took him into your home, introduced him to your child, showed him what it meant to love— and you did all of it without knowing who he really was. How could he ever tell you that he was supposed to have multiple children? That he needed to cheat on you to fulfil his mission?

Of course, when he’s pulled away to a meeting with Thragg, that doesn’t go over so well.

“Why are you refusing to take more spouses?!” Thragg’s voice booms, even in the vast space of the atmosphere. Lucan doesn’t waver, though, even when he knows he should be more afraid.

“Grand Regent, I understand my mission, but my mate gave me the title of sweetheart.” He knows how bad it looks, but he couldn’t help it. You’d been betrayed in the past by countless other men, and he wouldn’t stoop to their level and ruin your trust. “I can’t betray that.”

Thragg is undeniably infuriated, but dismisses him without a second glance. Lucan eagerly flies back home— back to you —even though his heart weighs heavily. Should he tell you of his mission? Of what he had to do? Should he tell you who he really is? That scared him more than the Grand Regent did.

“I’m home. It was nothing important.” He muses to you, having told you he was called away for some work problem, which technically wasn’t a lie. You believe him without a second thought, and it only makes his heart squeeze. He couldn’t keep lying to you like this.
