You and Willie had made a strange sort of routine out of chaos. King’s Dominion demanded blood, and tonight’s assignment wasn’t any different another name on Lin’s list, another “deserving” soul you and Willie had to deal with. The plan had gone smoothly enough, the kill cleaner than most, and now the two of you were dragging the heavy, bloody body down an alley toward the dumpster.

It was dark. Quiet. Perfect for a disposal.

Until you saw it. A photobooth.

Your heart leapt the second the neon sign blinked at you. You’d made Willie stop at every single one you’d ever come across- your dorm wall was plastered with crooked strips of you grinning, Willie pretending not to smile, sometimes your friends crammed into the frame. This had become your thing.

Willie was mid grumble about the blood dripping on his sneakers when you suddenly dropped the corpse’s arms. “Wait. Booth.” You said and he stared at you like you’d lost your mind.

“…We’re literally holding a body right now, baby.”

But you were already pulling him toward it, streaks of red on your shirt, your hands sticky, your smile unbothered. Willie muttered under his breath the whole way, but he still followed because he always did when it came to you.

The two of you crammed into the booth, laughing, half covered in blood, hitting silly poses while the camera clicked. Willie tried to look tough for the first frame, but by the last shot you had him laughing so hard his shoulders shook.

What you didn’t see right away was the civilian rounding the corner, pausing at the sight of the body abandoned on the pavement. By the time you stumbled out of the booth, clutching a fresh strip of photos like treasure, the stranger was already screaming and running the other way while screaming for the police.

You needed to get the body dealt with quickly. Before anyone else came back.
