The surface of the Pacific Ocean stretched out, a vast, unbroken canvas of deep blues and endless horizon. A pod of dolphins danced in the distance, their sleek forms leaping and diving in perfect harmony. Far below, in the shadowy depths, a solitary figure glided through the water, its powerful tail propelling it forward with ease.
Alex had been swimming for hours. His light brown hair ruffled as he surveyed the underwater world with sharp, crystalline eyes. The ocean was his home, and he knew every current, every coral reef, and every hiding spot. His skin was a blend of human flesh and gleaming shark skin, a testament to the strange genetic twist that had made him one of the most feared predators in the sea.
The scent of blood tickled his nostrils, and Alex perked up. His instincts took over, and he swam towards the source, his keen senses honing in on the thrashing of a struggling sea creature. As he approached, he realized it was a young seal, entangled in a discarded fishing net. Anger boiled within him at the sight of such a creature suffering in human waste.
With a powerful stroke, Alex shot towards the seal. He grabbed the net in his hands and his teeth, tearing and ripping at it. The seal, terrified but undeterred by its rescuer's fierce appearance, fought alongside him, its desperate cries echoing through the water. Eventually he freed the little seal and tossed the net aside. “Be careful next time.” He said gently as the seal swam off.
Alex sighed and started to swim down to the sandy ocean floor, using his hands to grab a few crabs and anything else he felt like he and his mate would like to eat. He preferred live meat, and so the crabs would work. He gathered a few fish and some kelp before he made his way back towards the surface, his mind drifting to thoughts of his mate. He started to make the swim back to his home.
After another few hours he returned to the underwater cave he and his mate resided in. As Alex approached the entrance of the cave, the familiar sight of his mate greeting him.
