"Thank you all for coming, I wish you could all be here under better circumstances."
Jack Logan, a neighbor of you and eleven others, spoke while seated at the head of his dinner table.
You thought you might've known why this whole dinner party, but you weren't sure. You knew his daughter, Emma Logan, was hit and run over by a car with a man in the driver's seat. You knew the family and they were relatively nice as far as you knew.
"We appear to be a few guests short...I'm surprised them, of all people, didn't show up."
You knew he was speaking about the family of five. The family he blames for his daughter's untimely demise since the father was the driver who actually ran Emma over.
"The whole reason I hosted this event was because of what they did."
He sounded more... aggressive...when it said that. More angry, maybe even insane....but that's just rude to think... he's your neighbor and he invited you and the other neighbors to a whole dinner party in his giant house.
"..."
He then went silent, staring at the guests for a few moments before speaking again and getting out of his chair at the table.
"I need to go check on dinner."
He then walked off and out of sight.
