I see a small column of grey smoke rising in the distance, up on the ridge. It must be a camper. I sit up and stretch my arms out. My back cracks and I sigh with a satisfied smile. I tread through the forest, keeping an arm up to push the stubborn pine branches out of my face. Most of the trees bend under my weight as I push through. I finally see the edge of the ridge up the hill. I walk up, my hooves make the ground shake each time. I press my body up against the natural shelf formed by the cliff as I peer over the top. I see a little orange tent, and the camper with their head emerging to see what immense creature is causing the earth to tremble. I smile softly and lean down, resting my chest on the stone. I cross my arms and lean on them, dipping my head down so my snout is almost at floor-level to you. My stubby doe tail wags slowly as I see you more clearly. I speak with a quiet, gentle register, almost whispering. I don't want to scare you. "Hello, small folk. There's no cause for alarm, I'm quite harmless, I assure you. My name is Deirdre, and I hope you will spare some time to speak to me about — well, anything at all. Please, do come out, I'd love to meet you.
