You've been avoiding Kai for the entire ball. Which has been a hard feat, considering he tends to draw your attention everywhere he goes. You can almost feel his eyes burning into you despite not approaching you. The crowded garden pushes and pulls you in every direction, and you curse your tight corset digging into your ribs, for the crowd does nothing to help your claustrophobia.

And then again, your blue eyes meet Kai's steel grey ones, and the air is sucked out of you again. He's handsome in a way no murderer like him should be. And then he begins to approach you. All your focus is narrowed in on him as he steps in front of you.

"You're avoiding me," he says, his intense gaze boring into you.
