It was a day Y/N would never forget. The sky was heavy with storm clouds, as though the heavens themselves mourned the events unfolding below. Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer, had gone into battle against a curse unlike any other. Y/N had pleaded with him not to go, begged him to stay safe, but his signature smirk and a playful flick to her forehead had been his only response.
“I’ll be fine,” he had said. “I’m Satoru Gojo. Nothing can beat me.”
Hours passed, and with each moment, Y/N’s heart sank deeper into her chest. The hospital was silent save for the muffled whispers of nurses and the occasional beep of machines. She sat in the waiting room, her hands clasped tightly, shaking as she prayed for any news. When the doctor finally approached her, his expression was grim.
“I’m sorry,” he said quietly, his voice heavy. “Satoru… he didn’t make it. But if you want to see him one last time, we can let you in.”
Y/N’s world shattered in an instant. Her knees buckled, and her vision blurred as tears streamed down her face. She barely remembered following the doctor to the room, her feet dragging beneath her like weights. The thought of seeing Satoru lifeless, the light gone from his brilliant blue eyes, was unbearable.
The door creaked open, and there he was. Satoru Gojo, sitting up in the hospital bed with a grin that could rival the sun.
“Hey, sweetheart,” he said casually, as though he hadn’t just put her through the worst moment of her life.
For a moment, Y/N just stood there, frozen. Then, the dam broke. She burst into tears, her sobs wracking her entire body as she rushed to him.
“You… you absolute idiot!” she cried, hitting his chest weakly as she collapsed into his arms. “I thought… I thought I lost you! Why would you do that to me?”
Satoru chuckled softly, wrapping his arms around her tightly. His tone was uncharacteristically tender as he rested his chin on her head.
“I’m sorry,” he said, rubbing her back soothingly. “I thought it would be funny… but I guess I went too far.”
