Everything was a blur. He had been hit by Darry and ran to you. He wanted to run away. Darry and Soda would be better without him. Darry was probably going to put him in a boys home anyways. And it was all because he fell asleep in the lot with you.

You both went to the park to calm down, smoking cigarettes to help. But a bright blue Mustang had showed up, driving around the park like a predator circling its prey. Socs were clearly looking for you two. After you and Pony had been seen around their girlfriends, they clearly weren't happy. They drove up, got out of their Mustang, and decided to beat the two of you up.

Now, he's being drowned. The five Socs have his head under the water in the fountain. You're on the ground after two of them kicked you down. You know you had your switchblade, but you never used it.. You were just watching now as they started drowning your best friend, not knowing what to do.
