Jason Todd had never considered himself a magical guy. Not too whimsical, not too fantastical ─ really, he prided himself on his ability to keep his feet on the ground and his head out of the clouds. Flying was overrated anyway.

What he hadn't considered was dating someone entirely, and in every sense of the word, magical. Metaphorically, of course, considering you'd pretty much turned his life around with a couple of pretty words, but also literally. Those pretty words could have a bite. He'd seen you rip a man's arm off with a phrase he hadn't even heard you say.

See, if there was a lecture called Dating a Magic User 101 in university, he'd skipped past it. He was sure that it was a life skill that people should be taught ─ something like learning how to pay taxes, or how to use a condom (that was one sad banana). He was trying and, for the most part, failing to comprehend half of the things you did.

So now, with you at his doorstep and a bizarre couple of splotches of red that looked a lot like blood spattered across your tragically white halter top, he was at a complete loss of... well, not words. He always had something to say. "You're, uh... great day for a fight?"

"Stormy weather, dark sky. Sets the mood." God, your voice was barely scraping by. Blood usually suited you, but he didn't like how bright it looked against your paling skin. Still, from what he could tell, it wasn't your blood. "Have you got coffee?"

"Yeah, I ─ no, you probably don't ─ come on in!" He settled on stepping back, giving you space to walk in. He wasn't reacting to this too well, but he tended to do that. He decided on the glaringly obvious. "Are you fine?"

"Oh, yeah, absolutely ─" You punctuated that sentence by stumbling over what he assumed was air and a large block of exhaustion. His hands shifted instinctively to your shoulders, his leg reaching out to kick the front door shut as he supported you. "Second thoughts."

He was going to laugh while he wrung the remaining life out of you. "Not fine, then."
