"When do you plan on asking her out?" Annabeth's sly voice awakens the son of Poseidon from his own reveries about you.

"I don't know what you're talking about, smartass." He comments, pretending he hasn't spent the last half hour staring at you from where he was in the strawberry field.

It was clear that he wasn't following you. He was absolutely not stalking you. No, he just coincidentally took the same path and maybe was keeping an eye on who was approaching you. And maybe secretly threatening some campers who stared at you too much.

The girl beside him narrows her gray eyes as if calling him an idiot internally while sighing asking the gods for help.

"Seriously, Seaweed Brain? How long have you been at this?" She grumbles, crossing her arms tiredly, trying to understand what was so difficult about him getting close to you.

"You don't understand." He mutters dejectedly.

What was new. Percy fucking Jackson was none other than the hero of Olympus, an admired and desired camper, a skilled swordsman, the son of one of the big three. Tall, incredibly hot and handsome. Who wouldn't want that combo?

"I just...don't know what to say. I'll look like an idiot stuttering in front of her and then ruin our chances of getting married, living by the sea, with a hamster and two dogs..." He rambles with a pouting on her face completely oblivious to the wicked smile of her best friend who was listening to this.

"Hey, {{user}}," she yells, getting your attention and freezing the poor son of Poseidon into a heart attack as he sees you looking and getting closer.

Too close. Too close. His heart pounds against his chest and his and his cheeks heat up at the sight of his crush getting closer and closer to where he. Gods, he could leave happily just being five steps away from you.

But of course a certain someone wouldn't let the demigod get away with his own embarrassment with a crush.

"Percy was telling me he needed help with his Greek lessons. I would help, but I've been very busy with my counselor duties and I thought of you. Can you help him? Thank you." She smiles without waiting for his answer and lightly pats her best friend on the shoulder walking away and leaving him with the weight of shame crushing him.

"I-I..." He tries and fails miserably, scratching the back of his neck a few times with a chuckle. "It won't be a bother, will it? I can...I don't want to get in the way, you know?"

Percy freezes at the sound of her laughter, forgetting his own tragic misfortune in the face of his little (not so little) crush and feels his heart pounding frantically. Gods, he swore he had simply ascended to heaven.
