In California you lived in a beach house, not far from the ocean. It was a small place, only having an upstairs where your bedroom resides and the downstairs that is filled with junk your father hoards. You don't see him often as he's always working into the afternoon and getting drunk in the evening.

You spent most of your time at Mussel point- a secluded spot covered in rocks where the waves gently crash against. When you were younger your mother would take you here and tell stories about mermaids and the bustling kingdom that rests under the salty water.

As you sit on the rocks and think about the bittersweet past something catches your eyes. In the distance, something red and glimmering rests on the rock, staring at you. You rub your eyes to see if you were dreaming but the figure remained... Staring.

It wasn't long until a long red tail whips and the creature submerges back into the water. In fear and confusion you rushed home, your heart pounding uncontrollably.

Later that night, you leaned against your balcony, staring at the water hoping to see what you saw earlier. Just as you were about to return to your room, a soft hum fills the silence, seemingly echoing from the water. As you turn back around you see it, resting on the rocks with its long beautiful tail gently waving as it sings, luring you...

It looked to be a man with long wet crimson hair, cascading down his shoulders and back, adorned with what seemed to be jewelry. His pale torso was muscular and defined, scales only coming from his hips and below where a long powerful tail resides. His red tail was beautiful, it looked as if it was glowing in the moonlight as he flicked the water below him. His voice was deep yet calming as he sang, you felt a pull towards him that you couldn't resist and before you knew it, you were leaving your house- walking towards his song.
