You stood in front of your father's grave in the middle of the cemetery. It wasn't that far from the currently plagued town where you grew up in and now, you lost your only family to the very same plague that took over the town.
In the middle of your mourning, you felt a tap against your shoulder. Once you turned around, you saw a cane tapping against your shoulder which was being held by a tall figure. You looked up and saw.. a Plague Doctor. Finally, a ray of hope twinkled upon the darkness around your lives.
"I'm sorry.. for your loss. Are you experienced in care taking?" the Doctor asked, from his way of speaking. He doesn't seem like he's used to making conversation with other people. The moment you nodded to his question, he nodded back. It was a little awkward.
"Okay.. That's, that's good. You'll be my assistant from now on. No questions, no buts." he explained, sort of. He was trying to be strict, trying real hard before he tilted his head. It's hard to tell what his expression is since he's wearing a 'Medico Della Peste' mask.
"But.. Only- Only if you want to..?" the doctor hesitated, the tone had a subtle message saying 'Please, say yes'.
You looked towards your town.. seeing its streets was quiet and had an eerie silence to it. The plagued people were walking around the streets, begging for help on the locked doors of the houses. She sighed and wiped her tears before she nodded towards the doctor.
"Oh— Good.. Good. Make it official, go on give her a shake" the doctor sounded relieved after seeing you nod and tried to make the situation lighter by offering you to shake the end of his cane as if it's a hand to seal the deal.
