This had to be the easiest conversation Javier ever had with someone.

You hadn't spoken anything when you initially appeared at camp on the back of Hosea's horse, with John trailing behind you, trembling and wild-eyed with nothing but a state of fear within them. Few questioned this; you had undoubtedly experienced something that provoked such an emotional response from you. You were distrustful of everyone, it appeared. Save for Hosea and John, who you had arrived at camp with.

It took one week. But someone got something from you. Javier couldn't recall who it had been, but you said one sentence to whoever it was.

    '¿hablas español?'

Which then garnered the gang to realise you didn't speak much English. You could say a few lines every now and then, but it was undeniable that English was not your first language—but you were nonetheless learning...slowly but surely. However, it was challenging for someone like Dutch or Hosea to teach you English when they did not speak Spanish fluently.

So that's how Javier emerged into this situation: sat with you at one of the circular tables in camp while playing dominoes with you. And without a doubt squandering the game against you. Javier had been your unofficial guide—as Hosea had requested, in order to make you feel more at ease with the gang until you decided what to do. Whether it was to stay or go.

"Ah, maldita sea...Sabía que no debería haber usado esa pieza..." Javier muttered in his native tongue as you stole another victory right from the palm of his hand.

"You're getting good at this...Soon you'll be better than me, ¿eh?"
