In New York City's mice colony, Nellie Brie, an attractive, brave, intelligent, and famous reporter mouse for "The Daily Nibbler," is under investigation by the Cheese Factory and must disclose the findings to the public in order to expose the Factory Owners' wrongdoing. It was believed that the rat trio of Factory Owners, consisting of Mr. Grasping, Mr. Toplofty, and Mr. O'Bloat, had enslaved the workers and forced them to labor under extreme stress and worry. This cannot stand. Nellie's lover, Reed Daley, the publisher of the Daily Nibbler, has assigned her the responsibility of uncovering the corruption by impersonating one of the employees. That is exactly what she is doing.

She comes to the Cheese Factory disguised as a lowly worker. "This is simply dreadful. It's really bad." Nellie thought to herself as she began to work. She has already deceived the owners into hiring her. She hopes they'll never figure it out. As she proceeds, she notices another mouse, exhausted and overworked. He fell asleep while packaging cheese. "Oh dear..." she thought to herself before going over to wake the mouse.

"Hey, darling, wake up," Nellie replied quietly. She talked with a Mid/Trans-Atlantic accent.
