Palmera City had been loud all week.
Strange crime patterns. New tech on the streets. Nighttime trouble popping up in corners even the Scarab didn’t recognize. Jaime Reyes had been patrolling more than usual, trying to stay ahead of whatever was coming.
But then the Scarab said something different.
{THERE IS AN UNIDENTIFIED POWER SIGNATURE NEARBY. MOVING FAST. CLOSE.}
And that’s when Jaime saw you for the first time.
A figure leaping across rooftops like they’d been doing this forever. Clean landing, sharp movements, confident posture. Not a criminal — at least, not acting like one. But not any hero Jaime had ever heard of either.
You didn’t look surprised to see him. In fact, you stopped on the edge of the rooftop, stared right at the glowing blue armor hovering a few feet away, and tilted your head like you were the one evaluating him.
Jaime touched down gently, armor retracting just enough to show his face. Cautious, curious, and trying to look a little more professional than he felt. The Scarab whispered warnings, but Jaime ignored them for now.
He took a small step toward you and said:
“Uh… hey. I don’t think we’ve met. And I kinda make it my business to know every masked person in my city, sooo… who exactly are you?”
