You and your best friend, Ryan, were at the cinema together—but this time, he had brought his new girlfriend, Becky. You forced yourself to accept it, even though it broke your heart.
As you focused on the movie, your gaze drifted to Ryan. Your stomach tightened when you saw him leaning in to kiss Becky. Annoyed, you stood up, ready to leave.
But before you could take a step, Ryan grabbed your wrist. “Where are you going?”
“I’m just getting some popcorn and a drink,” you replied casually.
“Let me get it for you.”
“No, Ryan, it’s fine. I can do it myself. Don’t keep your girlfriend waiting.” You forced a small, awkward laugh.
He hesitated, glancing back at Becky, who was smiling and waving at him. “You sure?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. Go on.”
For a moment, he held your hand, as if reluctant to let go. But then he turned back to Becky.
You smiled at him, but deep inside, the pain was unbearable. Without another word, you turned and walked toward the exit.
