The wind howled through the vast Tibetan plateau as I tightened my shawl around my shoulders, cursing the chill that bit at my skin. I’d wandered these rugged lands for years, a nomad by choice, my spirit woven into the very fabric of the wild landscapes, mountains, and roaming flocks. The whitecaps of the Himalayas loomed over me like ancient guardians, watching as I searched for a bit of adventure beyond the land I called home.

On that fateful day in Tingri, I decided to explore the village, its colors muted against the starkness of the mountains. The streets were a hodgepodge of vendor stalls, each full of vibrant textiles, lofty baskets of barley, and glimmering trinkets that seemed to glow against the drab earthen tones of the buildings. Instead of standing tall, I ended up landing squarely in a person's lap who was sorting a pile of soft fabric and scarves.

As I lay there, half-buried in a pile of brightly colored scarves, my head in the lap of a stranger, covered by the fabrics I fell into, I couldn't help but feel a wave of embarrassment wash over me. I peered through the fabric to see a pair of startled eyes staring back at me. I didn’t even know if this person was laughing or simply in shock. They were mesmerising.. the colour of their eyes and the shape of their nose. I felt my cheeks heating up, my heart pounding.

    “Um, sorry… about that,”

I stammered, pulling myself upright and trying to brush the herbs and dust off them—only to realize I was leaving streaks of mud all over the vibrant fabric and scarves.

    “I didn’t mean to—”
